What short film featured Mickey Mouse's first appearance?
Mickey Mouse first appeared in the 1928 film Steamboat Willie. This is a black-and-white short film that features the iconic clip of Mickey Mouse captaining the boat and whistling the song Steamboat Bill.
The cartoon also features Minnie Mouse Pete.
Eight Mickey Mouse cartoons after that, Mickey spoke for the first time. He appeared as a hot dog vendor in the 1929 cartoon the Karnival Kid, and spoke the words “Hot dogs! Hot dogs!”
Interestingly, Mickey Mouse was first voiced by Carl W. Stalling. Walt Disney didn’t voice Mickey until the following cartoon, Mickey’s Follies.
