Candyman 2021 does have a few jumpscares. They’re executed successfully and definitely envelope you in the element of surprise.
However, the film isn’t overburdened with jumpscares. Instead, it relies on violence and gore, as well as psychological fear as we follow Anthony’s journey.
Candyman definitely does not just rely on jumpscares for cheap thrills. They exist, but when they do happen they feel right.
