Did They Use Real Chocolate In Charlie and the Chocolate Factory? | FAQ

Did they use real chocolate in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory?

A lot of the chocolate you see in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is actually real. Of course, many of the bars of chocolate are made from real chocolate, and then there’s the chocolate river.

It was apparently important to Tim Burton that the river genuinely looked like it was made with real chocolate, so the company Vickers was hired to create the concoction.

The final product that was used as the chocolate in the river and in the waterfall was a mix of water, food grade biocide, and hydroxyethyl cellulose.
